The ITER Qualification Workshop will be held at ITER-Organization, France on June 17th and 18th, 2025. This workshop provides an opportunity for the re-gathering of the fusion neutronics community to discuss recent advancements, issues and successes in this field.
Considering the developments of alternative fusion concepts with start-up, progress on other technologies such as inertial fusion, codes, shielding materials etc., it is proposed to have a larger audience beyond the ITER/DEMO scope. Therefore, it is an opportunity for ITER neutronics community and newcomers to share the status on their work on Nuclear Fusion neutronics for our common benefit and objective that is progress and acquire knowledge in fusion neutronics.
This workshop aims to discuss various neutronics related topics like
- Neutronics related to ITER (status, roadmap, big picture and at systems levels).
- Nuclear radiation related safety issues (Safety margins/uncertainties, code qualification)
- Various computational tools and nuclear data relevant for nuclear fusion (Transport codes, Activation codes, CAD/MCNP converting tools etc.)
- Dose reduction methods and optimization, ALARA
- Shielding materials
- Material damage, nuclear heating, radioactive waste production and management
- Accelerator driven neutron sources for fusion applications
- Activated Corrosion Products
- Nuclear licensing for fusion reactors
- Neutronics beyond ITER, DEMO, Fusion Power plants alternate fusion schemes such as ICF etc.
This meeting will be held primarily in-person but a few online presentations/participations are also possible. Subject to conditions, this workshop also includes ITER construction site visit.
We encourage young researchers and fusion start-ups to participate in this event and present their work.
